![]() ![]() Themes are different than templates in PowerPoint:Ī theme is a slide design made up of cohesive colors, fonts, and effects such as shadows or reflections.Ī template includes a theme, but also contains instructions in placeholders suggesting what to insert and what types of information the user of the template might want to include. ![]() If you're already working in PowerPoint, click File > New from Template to see the templates. Select your template, and then click Create. Apply a template to a new presentation Open PowerPoint, and you'll see a set of standard templates in the gallery. Select Custom > Custom Office Templates to find your template. To make use of your template when you create a new presentation: In the Save as type list, select PowerPoint Template, and then click Save. In the Save As dialog box, in the File name box, type a name for the template. If you have existing slides that you want to apply the template to, see the next section. If you don't have existing slides to import, simply begin creating slides in your new file.
